Pre-Christmas Training Series - Developing Your Partnership
This series aims to develop the partnership between horse and rider. It will suit those riders with young or new horses in preparation for competitions in 2026.
Arena sessions will be held in the refurbished arena next door to Ely Eventing Centre with a fabulous new surface supplied by Equestrian Surfaces. All vehicles will be parked at the Equine Centre for Arena sessions.
Sunday 16th November Arena Session
Focus on using poles and simple exercises work to develop partnership and rideability.
Sunday 30th November XC course
An opportunity to consolidate the arena exercises out on grass before the XC closes. Will include water, small steps and possibly a ditch. This session will move to the arena if XC closed due to wet ground.
Sunday 7th December Arena Session
Building confidence working round a course of jumps, starting with poles and building up to small jumps.
Sunday 14th December Arena session
Jumping angled fences and skinnies in the arena.
Sessions will be 1hr long, with a maximum of 4 in a group, these will be matched by experience and level of training. The first session will start at 10am and times sent out during the previous week.
Arena sessions £35 per person.
XC session 2 £65 including course hire.
Advance booking to include all 4 sessions £135
2026 Winter Series - Developing the Event Horse as an Athlete
This series aims to develop the athletic ability of horses and to enable them to work confidently over fixed XC fences and uneven ground.
All levels of training can be accommodated including those with little XC experience to those aiming to compete at Poplar Park in March.
Arena sessions will be held in the refurbished arena next door to Ely Eventing Centre with a fabulous new surface supplied by Equestrian Surfaces. All vehicles will be parked at the Equine Centre for Arena sessions.
Saturday 3rd or Sunday 4th January - Arena Session
Focus on using poles and simple grid work to develop footwork and rideability.
Saturday 17th or Sunday 18th January - Arena Session
Progress from gridwork to linking show jumps together as a course.
Saturday 31st January or Sunday 1st February - Arena Session
Using Jump 4 Joy XC practice fences to develop confidence over skinnies and corners.
Saturday 14th or Sunday 15th February - XC course
Using the XC schooling course to practice the skills learnt in the arena out on grass. Using the terrain, ditches and water to prepare for the new season.
